At least seven people were killed after a fire broke out in a shop in Mumbai’s Chembur early Sunday morning. The Mumbai Fire Brigade stated that the incident occurred around 5:15 am when the fire erupted in a shop on the ground floor of a building in Siddharth Colony and quickly spread to the electrical wiring, household items and other materials in the shop.
Locals who noticed the flames immediately informed the Fire Brigade, which responded swiftly. However, the fire had already reached the upper floor where the victims resided. The victims were rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, but five of them were pronounced dead on arrival while two of them succumbed to burn injuries in the hospital.

The fire reportedly claimed the lives of Paris Gupta (7), Narendra Gupta (10), Manju Prem Gupta (30), Prem Gupta (30), Anita Gupta (30), Vidhi Chediram Gupta (15) and Gitadevi Dharamdev Gupta (60). The seven family members died due to asphyxiation from the smoke. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time.
In a separate incident on Saturday, a massive fire destroyed the V Logistics warehouse in Bhiwandi, around 40 km from Mumbai. The fire, which broke out on Friday night, reduced to ashes a large quantity of hydraulic oil, cloth, plastic items and chemicals stored in the warehouse. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident.
