Mumbai Lunar Eclipse Timing: Mumbai's night sky will be treated to a rare total lunar eclipse, also known as the "Blood Moon," on September 7-8. The Moon will turn a striking red-orange hue as it passes through Earth's shadow, creating an extraordinary and breathtaking view for Mumbaikars.

The lunar eclipse in Mumbai will start from 8:57 IST and will start getting in form and turning into the main event. The total eclipse phase will run from 11:00 pm IST until 12:22 am IST on Monday.

The good news is that the celestial event can be seen and enjoyed with the naked eye without any compulsion of area-specific gadgets, but those with binoculars or telescopes will be able to see the event even more. Astronomy enthusiasts in Mumbai can catch the rare total lunar eclipse as several astronomy clubs and organisations are expected to host viewing sessions at popular spots, including-

- Marine Drive: A prime location for witnessing the eclipse
- Juhu: Another popular spot for stargazing events
- Open grounds across the city: Various locations with minimal light pollution

Why Blood Moon Is Rare Event

This lunar eclipse is extra special because it coincides with the Moon's perigee, its closest point to Earth. This means the Moon will appear slightly larger than usual, making the eclipse an even more stunning visual treat for residents in Mumbai.
