Mumbai News: The Vishnunagar Police in Dombivli have arrested content creator Shailesh Ramugade for allegedly deceiving several young women by posing as a romantic partner and taking valuables from them. Officers said he used social media to identify his targets and created emotional relationships before cheating them. Police expect more women from Thane and Mumbai to come forward with similar complaints.

According to a Free Press Journal report, the case began when a young woman from a well-known Dombivli family reported that her gold jewellery had gone missing. During questioning, she revealed she had willingly handed the jewellery to her boyfriend, later identified as Ramugade. A background check showed that he already had two cheating cases registered against him at Kapurbaudi Police Station in Thane and had previously been arrested.

After the woman’s family lodged a complaint, police formed a team led by Senior Police Inspector Ram Chopde and Police Inspector Ghaninath Sarjerao Game. Investigations indicated that Ramugade had used the same pattern to cheat multiple women across the Dombivli- Thane belt. He was arrested from his flat in Hiranandani Estate, Thane.

During the raid, police recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 37 lakh, a BMW car close to Rs 1 crore in value and four high-end iPhones.

How He Operated

Investigators said Ramugade targeted educated women, including IT professionals and corporate employees. He approached them on Instagram, built trust and then fabricated emergencies to convince them to hand over money or jewellery. Common excuses included fake Enforcement Directorate raids, false claims of sudden financial crises, and urgent situations that required immediate funds.

Once he received valuables, he reportedly ended contact and shifted attention to new victims.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Suhas Hemaon said more survivors are likely to file complaints. He added that several women have already contacted the police and more FIRs may be registered in the coming days.
