Mumbai Local Train News: Mumbai’s official local train app, Yatri, has rolled out a new real-time messaging feature called Yatri Chat, designed to improve how commuters receive and share information during their daily travel. The feature has been introduced with the aim of creating a quick and reliable communication space for passengers across the city’s busiest rail corridors.
Separate Groups Created for Western, Central, Harbour And Trans-Harbour Lines
Yatri Chat offers separate discussion groups for the Western, Central, Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines. Through these dedicated corridors, commuters can post updates or questions related to train movement, delays, service disruptions or crowding. An official associated with the app said the feature enables people to “post quick updates, ask questions and exchange information relevant to their respective train lines,” ensuring that discussions remain focused on each route. The chat also includes a reply option for two-way communication and basic moderation tools to maintain order.
App Now Shows Train Timings And Crowd Levels
Along with user-generated updates, the Yatri app continues to display standard train information, including upcoming train timings and estimated crowd levels. These additions are expected to help commuters plan their journeys better and avoid unnecessary waiting at stations.
The Free Press Journal report cited Reeva Sakaria, Co-Founder of Yatri as stating that the new feature is meant to bring the informal conversations that travellers usually have on trains into a digital format. She explained that the broader goal is to build a communication system that supports Mumbai’s large commuter base and strengthens the flow of real-time information through the app.
