Mumbai Local Train Update: Western Railway has announced a night block this weekend between Vasai Road and Virar to carry out essential maintenance work. The block, scheduled for the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday (20th–21st September 2025), will run from 00:15 hrs to 04:15 hrs.
The maintenance work will cover tracks, signalling systems and overhead equipment on the UP and DOWN slow lines. During the block, all slow line suburban trains will operate on the fast lines between Vasai Road and Virar. Some suburban trains will remain cancelled and passengers are advised to check details with station masters. Officials confirmed there will be no block during the daytime on Sunday, September 21.
Surat Station Halts Restored For Festive Travel
In a separate announcement, Western Railway stated that select train halts at Surat station will resume from October 10, 2025 to manage increased passenger traffic during the upcoming festive season, including Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja. The restoration follows temporary discontinuation of stops due to redevelopment work at Surat station.
Several trains will now originate from Surat instead of Udhna station, including:
22828 Surat–Puri SuperFast Express (from 14th October)
09065 Surat–Chhapra Clone Special (from 13th October)
20925 Surat–Amravati SuperFast Express (from 10th October)
13426 Surat–Malda Town Express (from 13th October)
Similarly, some trains will now terminate at Surat instead of Udhna station:
22827 Puri–Surat SuperFast Express (from 12th October)
13425 Malda Town–Surat Weekly Express (from 11th October)
09066 Chhapra–Surat Clone Special (from 15th October)
20926 Amravati–Surat SuperFast Express (from 10th October)
A number of festival special trains will also originate and terminate at Udhna station to handle the surge in passengers during the festive period.
