Mumbai Metro-3 Final Phase Launch:  In a bid to improve north-south connectivity and make travel easier for commuters, the officials are preparing to open the Mumbai Metro-3’s final stretch from Worli to Cuffe Parade for the public by the end of August. Earlier, it was scheduled to be opened on August 15, but it missed the deadline due to ongoing construction work at Kalbadevi. Once operational, it will connect to Cuffe Parade via Mumbai Central, Churchgate and CSMT. The first two phases of Mumbai Metro-3 from Aarey to Worli are already operational.

As the Mumbai Metro-3 Final Phase from Worli to Cuffe Parade nears completion, it will boost north-south connectivity and make travel faster for commuters between Aarey, Worli and South Mumbai’s business hubs. Once the 9.1 km underground section is completely operational, it will complete the north-south metro route.

According to Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), trial runs will finish on time and the final phase will be launched by the end of August, Times Property reported. However, the Worli-Cuffe Parade stretch is currently facing delays due to ongoing work at Kalbadevi. Kalbadevi has narrow lanes, old heritage buildings, and busy roads, which make it hard to move construction material and carry out tunnelling work.

Mumbai Metro-3, also known as Aqua Line, is a key metro project by Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation aiming to enhance north-south connectivity. It is being developed in three phases, out of which two are operational.

- Phase 3: Worli to Cuffe-Parade via Mumbai Central, Churchgate and CSMT.
