Mumbai Metro Line 2B Inauguration: In a big relief for Mumbaikars, the first phase of Metro Line 2B from Diamond Garden to Mandalay is set to be inaugurated soon. The work on the first phase has been completed.

The inauguration of Mumbai Metro Line 2B was delayed earlier because of the non-issuance of the CMRS certificate. Now that the certificate has been received, the inauguration preparations are expected to begin soon.

When will Metro Line 2B be inaugurated?

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis will likely inaugurate the line. Although there has been no official announcement regarding the dates, the program is likely to be held on December 4.

All about Line 2B

Mumbai Metro Line 2 is being developed in two parts, A and B. While A, connecting Dahisar to DN Nagar in Andheri West, is already operational, Line 2B extends from DN Nagar to Mandale in Mankhurd.

Line 2B's first phase, a 5.3-km stretch between Mandale and Diamond Garden in Chembur, is set for inauguration.

Maharashtra Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) is looking to open the second phase from Diamond Garden to Saraswati Nagar, by next summer.

The entire Line 2B is a 23.6-km route with 20 stations. It will offer a second crucial east-west metro connection in the city.

At present, Metro Line 1, running between Versova and Ghatkopar via Andheri links the eastern and western suburbs.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, an MMRDA officials said, "We are aiming to make phase 2 operational till Saraswat Nagar, which would connect to line 2A at DN Nagar by summer next year. The middle portion of this metro line will take more time, so we can certainly operate this corridor in phases".
