Mumbai Metro Line 3: Mumbai Metro Line 3, which is the city’s first fully underground metro line, running 33.5 km between Cuffe Parade (Colaba) and Aarey, featuring 27 stations (26 underground + one at grade), has reduced the infamous traffic congestion in many areas like BKC, Worli, and Colaba for the office goers. The best part about this metro line is that it connects both the suburbs and well-developed parts of the city, including the airport.
Line 3 has not only reduced the traffic congestion, but it has also helped reduce the fuel consumption of the daily commuters in the city. For eg, Phase 1 of Mumbai Metro Line 3 has reduced the 650,000 car trips daily. This has helped reduce road congestion by 35 per cent and save 3.54 lakh litres of fuel/day. Full line predicted to serve up to 13 lakh passengers/day, impacting air quality and commute experience across southern-central Mumbai.
