Mumbai Metro Aqua Line Phase 2B: In a two-day visit to Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the final phase of Mumbai Metro Line-3, also known as the Aqua Line. Spanning 10.99 km in length, the inauguration of the Phase 2B stretch of the Mumbai Metro Line-3 connecting Acharya Atre Chowk and Cuffe Parade stations marks the completion of Mumbai’s first fully underground metro corridor.

After arriving in Navi Mumbai, PM Modi inaugurated the much-awaited Navi Mumbai International Airport along with Mumbai Metro Line-3 and is set to launch several key projects during his visit.

Metro Metro Line-3 Inauguration: Check Route, Stations, Fare

- Mumbai Metro Line-3 Phase: The Mumbai Metro Line-3 is divided into different phases. Of these, the first phase from Aarey JVLR to BKC was inaugurated on October 7, 2024, the second phase from BKC to Acharya Atre Chowk was inaugurated on May 10, 2025, and the Phase 2B was inaugurated from Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade was inaugurated on October 8, 2025.

- Fully Underground Corridor: Mumbai Metro Line-3 is the city’s first fully underground corridor, featuring 27 stations. The lines connect key residential, commercial, and heritage areas across Mumbai.

- Project Cost: The Phase 2B, or the final stretch of Mumbai Metro Line-3, is built at a cost of Rs 12,195 crore, with the total project cost reaching approximately Rs 37,270 crore.
Key Connectivity Hubs: The newly inaugurated phase of Mumbai Metro Line-3 will improve access to Nariman Point, Fort, Kalbadevi, RBI, BSE, and Mantralaya.

- Rail Integration: Mumbai Metro Line-3 or Aqua Line ensures seamless integration with multimodal travel options, including Central Railway at CSMT and Western Railway at Mumbai Central and Churchgate.

- Airport Link: The line will offer significant convenience to air travellers with a direct link to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport from south Mumbai.

- Travel Time: The Aqua Line is expected to serve around 13 lakh passengers daily. The line will reduce travel time from Cuffe Parade to Aarey JVLR to one hour, compared to the current 1-2 hours by road.

- Fare: For trips up to 3 km, the fare is Rs 10. Those travelling between 3 km and 12 km will pay Rs 20, while journeys from 12 km to 18 km cost Rs 30. Passengers covering 18 km to 24 km will be charged Rs 40. Longer distances are priced at Rs 50 for 24 km to 30 km, and Rs 60 for trips between 30 km and 36 km.

Details About Phase 2B Of Mumbai Metro Line-3

- PM Modi on Wednesday inaugurated Phase 2B of Mumbai Metro Line-3, which connects Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade.

- The Archarya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade stretch is built at a cost of Rs 12,200 crore, and the entire Mumbai Metro Line 3 is valued at Rs 37,270 crore.

- Regular metro services on this line are scheduled to begin on September 15, with trains operating between 5:55 AM and 10:30 PM from Aarey JVLR to Acharya Atre Chowk.

- The Mumbai Metro Line-3 is estimated to ferry approximately 13 lakh passengers daily.
