Mumbai Metro Online Ticket Booking: To enhance the ease of public transport along the Mumbai Metro Line 3, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has launched WhatsApp-based ticketing on the line. Now with the new system available, expanding the range of options to get one’s ticket from, commuters will not have to stand in long lines to get QR tickets.

The MMRC announced the development days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Mumbai Metro network’s Aqua line.

The Aqua line, or line 3 of the Mumbai metro, connects Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai and Aarey JVLR in the northwestern part of Mumbai.

According to MMRC managing director Ashwini Bhide, the WhatsApp ticketing initiative is part of Mumbai Metro's effort to enhance commuter experience, reflecting the organisation's "commitment to offering seamless, efficient, and sustainable travel experiences to Mumbai's citizens”, reported news agency PTI.

- Text "Hi" to 91-98730-16836 to initiate the process.
- Scan the QR code at stations to generate a WhatsApp ticket.
- After scanning, your ticket will be displayed on the screen

With the news feature, customers will be able to generate up to six tickets in one go. The move is intended to remove the paper ticketing system and step ahead towards digitalisation.

Commuters will also be able to book tickets and access multiple payment methods, including UPI. However, if one is using a card for payment, then nominal transaction charges will be applied.

 

Mumbai Metro is expanding its WhatsApp ticketing service to more lines, following its successful implementation on Lines 2A and 7. This feature, now available on Line 3, allows passengers to purchase tickets seamlessly through WhatsApp.
