Mumbai Metro Line 9: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Thursday announced that Mumbai's Metro Line 9 project is soon likely to be ready for public use. It stated that the energisation of the Overhead Equipment (OHE) between Dahisar East and Kashigaon is expected to be completed ahead of May 10. Mumbai's Metro Line 9 project will connect Dahisar East to Mira-Bhayandar and is expected to reduce traffic congestion in several key areas. Apart from providing relief to the residents of nearby regions, the metro is likely to give a boost to the financial activities.
The authority stated that the Metro Line 9 project is divided into two phases, adding that while Phase 1 ranges from Dahisar East to Kashigaon, the second phase will extend the metro services to the Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium. It further stated that the first phase is currently undergoing electrification. The reports suggest that 85 per cent of the process has been completed, and the trials are soon expected to be conducted ahead of operation.
The authority had earlier stated that the officials have been instructed to complete the construction work ahead of the deadline. It further stated that the target of the authority is to commence the operation of the first phase by the end of this year. While providing details, it stated that operation of metro trains between Dahisar East and Kashigaon will reduce traffic congestion from several key regions.
The authority had clarified that the city's metro network will be expanded in the upcoming years to boost the public transport sector of Mumbai. While providing details regarding the Metro Line 9 project, the authority stated that it will have eight elevated stations, including Dahisar East, Pandurang Wadi, Mira Gaon, Kashigaon, Sai Baba Nagar, Meditya Nagar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Garden, and Subhash Chandra Bose Ground.
