Mumbai Metro Service Update: Mumbai Metro One Pvt. Ltd (MMOPL) has announced additional services on Wednesday, 31 December, to ensure seamless travel for the increased crowd in Mumbai Metro. To facilitate safe and convenient travel on New Year’s Eve, MMOPL will operate 28 additional trips on Dec 31-Jan 1.

The last train on Mumbai Metro Line 1 will depart Versova (VER) at 2.14 am (Jan 1, 2026) and Ghatkopar (GHA) at 2.40 am (Jan 1, 2026). The trains on line 1 will make a total of 504 trios instead of the normal 476.

Mumbai Metro Line 1 Frequency On New Year’s Eve

Trains will run every 3 minutes and 20 seconds during peak hours and 5 minutes and 55 seconds during non-peak hours. The extra late-night services will run at an interval of 12 minutes, beginning at 11.26 pm from Versova and 11.52 pm from Ghatkopar.

Mumbai Metro Line 3 To Be Operational Overnight

Mumbai Metro Line 3, connecting Cuffe Parade to Aarey JVLR stations in will operate through the night on New Year’s Eve to provide a smooth and safe public travel option to commuters.

The additional services on the Line 3, popularly known as the Aqua line, will start after 10:30 pm on December 31 and will continue till 5:55 am on January 1, 2026.

According to a release issued by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), regular service on the stretch will begin from 5:55 am as usual.

"Mumbai sees a huge crowd to welcome the New Year. This has been planned to avoid traffic jams on the roads and to ensure smooth travel for passengers. This overnight metro journey will be extremely convenient, especially in terms of safety for women and families," the release stated
