Mumbai-Nashik Expressway Updte: The authorities on Saturday stated that the commuters traveling on the Mumbai-Nashik Expressway on Sunday should be prepared for halts and delays because of the ongoing repair works on the Expressway. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will be doing the repair works on the Kasheli Creek bridge. The commuters are expected to face delays as the bridge is an important link on the expressway.

The Kasheli Creek bridge is crucial for vehicle movement between Mumbai, North Maharashtra, and North India. The officials stated that MSRDC has sought permission for the repair work, and it will commence around 9 AM on Sunday. However, the department confirmed that there will not be any overall traffic restriction on the route.

“One lane of the bridge will remain closed while repairs are underway, but we have not imposed any restrictions on overall traffic movement,” the officer was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

The authorities have been demanding time to repair the bridge since January 18, as a section of its median collapsed, causing problems for the commuters. However, the officials assured that there is no threat to the commuters even after the damage. The Kasheli Creek bridge is part of the old National Highway 3, Agra-Bombay Road, and is crucial as a large amount of goods is transported between the cities via this road.

The officials stated that the repair work is essential as the bridge is a key route for all the vehicles traveling to and from Bhiwandi in Maharashtra. The city is a major logistics hub, and the bridge is used to carry goods for several years.

The affected area of the bridge also belongs to an additional structure built in 1985. The officials further informed that the four-lane bridge currently accommodates two-way traffic. However, construction of a new parallel bridge will provide convenience to the commuters.
