Mumbai Rain: Several key regions of Mumbai witnessed heavy rainfall in the early hours of Monday, leading to waterlogging. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated that several districts of Maharashtra, including the capital city, are expected to receive rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that apart from heavy rainfall, the residents of Mumbai are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. The continuous rainfall has severely affected the transportation of the city, as many areas are dealing with waterlogging. Apart from this, the rainfall also led to delays in the operation of the local trains, causing inconveniences to thousands of commuters.

Mumbai weather: Rainfall to continue till August 19

- The capital city is likely to receive light to heavy rainfall for the next 72 hours

- Apart from rainfall, several regions are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds

- While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 27 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 20 degrees Celsius.

- Several areas of Mumbai received more than 100 mm rainfall on Sunday

- The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences

Maharashtra: Rainfall expected in several districts

The weather department further stated that several other cities of Maharashtra, including Thane, Pune, and Palghar, are expected to witness heavy rainfall till August 20. Apart from rainfall, these regions are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. However, the intensity of the rain is expected to decrease after August 20, which will provide relief to the residents.

"Widespread rainfall activity with Heavy to Very Heavy rainfall at a few places and Isolated Extremely Heavy Rainfall is very likely over Konkan and adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the above period," the IMD stated.
