Mumbai Traffic Advisory: The Mumbai police on Saturday issued a traffic advisory on Saturday to manage the heavy crowd expected to gather on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi. The police stated that the vehicular movement on several key roads will be prohibited for the whole day as the devotees will gather for the immersion of Lord Ganesha idols in the sea. The authority stated that alternative routes have been announced for the commuters to avoid the rush. The traffic police advised the residents to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconveniences.
These routes to remain closed:
- The advisory stated that no vehicular movement will be allowed between Padmashree Govardhan Bafna Chowk (Prarthana Samaj Junction) and Vinoli Junction.
- The traffic will be diverted via several other locations, including Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road, Nivriti Baburao Chowk (Bata Junction), Balaram Road, Rusi Mehta Junction, Navjeevan Junction, Tardeo Circle, Nana Chowk, and Wilson Junction.
- The authority stated that vehicular movement will remain halted from Navjeevan Junction to Kailashvasi Gajanan Vartak Chowk (M Powell Junction).
- The vehicles will be rerouted via Patte Bapurao Road, Tardeo Circle, Javji Dadaji Marg, Nana Chowk, JSS Road, Opera House Junction, and Maharshi Karve Road.
- Mumbai traffic police have announced special restrictions for South Mumbai and the Colaba area, adding that additional security personnel have been deployed in these regions.
- Apart from this, vehicular movement will not be allowed from Bhai Bhandarkar Chowk (Badhawar Park Junction) to Syed Mohammad Jamadar Chowk (Indu Clinic Junction).
- The advisory emphasised that Captain Prakash Pithe Marg and Rambhau Salgaocar Marg will remain closed for the traffic.
The traffic police has advised the commuters to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconveniences. The authority further advised the devotees to use public transports to avoid the rush and cut the travel time.
