Therefore, Central and South Mumbai is likely to face a water scarcity. The pipeline repair work is still going on, and this may cause further shortages in different areas of the city. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has yet to visit the site for repairing the damages.
This comes at a time when the city is already experiencing a 10% water shortage owing to necessary maintenance work on the pneumatic gate system in Pise. This system is critical to the city's water supply, and repairs are planned to last from December 1 to 5. During this time, water supplies to Thane and Bhiwandi Municipal Corporations would also be disrupted.

The BMC has emphasised that the ongoing repair work is important to the general maintenance of the water distribution system. However, with the new breach in Bandra, people will endure even more water outages.
The exact cause of the pipeline break is still being investigated, and no word on when repairs will begin. Meanwhile, residents of Central and South Mumbai should be prepared for potential water disruptions as a result of the continuing situation.
