Mumbai Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has increased weather alerts throughout Mumbai and the surrounding areas, warning of severe to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, so the city is prepared for a rainy weekend.
Due to the resurgence of monsoon currents, Mumbai and Thane are still under a yellow alert till Sunday, June 15. During this time, isolated heavy to very heavy rains are anticipated. A yellow alert has been issued for the period.
On Saturday, June 14, Mumbai and Thane are placed under an orange alert, which intensifies the situation. Residents could expect heavy rain, lightning, thunder, and gusts of 40 to 50 km/h.
Ratnagiri district is under a red warning for the same day due to the risk of exceptionally heavy rainfall, severe storms, lightning, and high winds.

Before moving north to Mumbai and Thane, heavy rain is expected to start in the southern Konkan districts of Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, and Raigad. According to observatories at Santacruz and Colaba, the humidity in these western coastal regions is now between 77 and 81 percent.
After an early commencement of the southwest monsoon on May 26, June has already witnessed substantial rainfall, with 83.8 mm recorded in Colaba and 87.5 mm in Santacruz.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region may get isolated areas of heavy rain on Friday after sporadic light to moderate rains. Forecasts call for thunderstorms with lightning and wind gusts of up to 50 km/h.
