Maharashtra Weather Update: Weather conditions in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra have returned to normal ahead of Diwali, as clear skies prevail over the state. But with clear skies, the days of polluted air have begun. The Air Quality Index of Mumbai has dropped to a concerning level, as the city gears up to celebrate festive fervour.
Residents in Mumbai are relieved that the rain has stopped, providing favourable weather conditions to celebrate the auspicious occasion. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has anticipated that the high temperature in Mumbai is likely to hit 36 degrees Celsius on Sunday, October 19. Earlier this week, spells of sudden rainfall were registered in the city, adding to the winter onset.
Air Quality Deteriorates In Mumbai
Mumbai's Air Quality Index (AQI) stands at 179, sparking concerns that Diwali festivities could further deteriorate air quality due to firecracker emissions.
Maharashtra Weather Update: Yellow Alert In 8 Districts For Rain
While residents of Mumbai welcome a clear sky ahead of Diwali, adding to the celebratory atmosphere, several districts of Maharashtra are placed under a yellow alert for light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning ahead of Diwali.
A low-pressure system will bring light to moderate rainfall to parts of Maharashtra, particularly the western coast, western Maharashtra, and north Maharashtra, on October 19. Thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to accompany the rain.
A yellow alert has been issued for several districts along the Konkan coast, including Raigad, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri, while Mumbai, Palghar, and Thane are exempt. Additionally, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, and Ghatmatha regions can expect rainfall.
