Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several states are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The coastal states are also set to experience gusty winds and thunderstorms along with the downpour. The weather department asserted that the hilly regions are expected to witness snowfall, leading to a dip in temperature in the northern belt. The residents of the capital city, Delhi, and the other nearby cities are expected to witness poor air quality due to firecrackers bursting in Diwali and stubble burning. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
Delhi-NCR: Air Quality To Worsen
The Delhi-NCR is set to witness light fog between October 19 and 21, leading to poor visibility and a dip in temperature, especially in the morning hours. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the capital city remains above 200 and is unlikely to improve until October 22. The IMD has advised the residents to wear a mask and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
Hilly States To Witness Rain, Snowfall
The weather department stated that the hilly states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh are set to witness light rain and snowfall in the upcoming days. The snowfall is likely to lower the temperature in the northern states, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Southern States To Witness Heavy Rainfall
The Meteorological Department stated that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in several southern and western states, including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, southern Maharashtra, Kerala, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to issues like waterlogging in key cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The fishermen of the coastal regions are advised to maintain a distance from the water bodies to avoid inconveniences.
