Mumbai Weather Today: As the Ganeshotsav festivities continue, Mumbai is expected to experience a week of moderate rain, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). While no severe weather warnings have been issued for the city itself, neighbouring Thane and Raigad districts are under yellow alerts, indicating potential heavy rain in isolated areas.

After a period of moderate rainfall last week, the intensity of showers decreased over the weekend. The IMD’s Santacruz observatory recorded 7.4 mm of rain, while the Colaba station noted only a trace of precipitation, which means the amount was too small to measure accurately.

Water Level In Mumbai Lake

Since the beginning of the monsoon in June, the Santacruz weather station has recorded 2,514 mm of rain, which is nearly nine per cent above the seasonal average of 2,318 mm. Despite this, the water levels in the city’s seven lakes have dropped to 97.75 per cent (14.14 lakh million litres) as of Sunday morning. Just two days earlier, water levels were close to 99 per cent.

Mumbai’s water supply comes from seven lakes, including Tulsi, Vihar, Bhatsa, Modak Sagar, Tansa, Upper Vaitarna and Middle Vaitarna, filled during the monsoon months, with the official withdrawal date set for October 10.
