Ahmedabad-Mumbai Vande Bharat: In a Diwali gift for frequent travellers, the Indian Railways is working to upgrade the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Vande Bharat train route. The high-speed train will soon be able to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, down from the current 130 km/h, cutting the travel time between the two cities to just 4 hours and 45 minutes, down from the current 5 hours and 25 minutes.
This upgrade is part of the Railway's "Mission Raftar", aiming to improve speed on the crucial Mumbai-Vadodara-Delhi route, of which the Ahmedabad-Mumbai section is a key part. After a successful initial technical inspection in April, a second inspection is scheduled for July to assess the train's performance at the higher speeds, as per the Times Of India report.

"The current track strength is already capable of handling speeds up to 130 km/h, but for the higher 160 km/h trials, we have reinforced the track to 60 kg per metre," said a senior official from the Ahmedabad division of Western Railway. The train will run with simulated weight during the trials to test the track's capabilities.
One of the major challenges, however, is the risk of cattle collisions on the route. To address this, the Railways has installed fencing along the tracks and built boundary walls in some areas. Further measures will be taken after the July inspection to ensure the track can safely support the higher speeds.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Train Time
If the trials are successful, the early morning Ahmedabad to Mumbai train, which currently departs at 6:10 am and reaches at 11:35 am, will be able to reach Mumbai by 10:50 am, reducing 45 minutes from the journey time. This will be a welcome relief for the thousands of passengers who rely on this busy route daily.
