Mumbai Local Train Disruption: Mumbai Local train services on the main corridor of Central Railway faced disruption due to a signal failure in neighboring Thane on Monday morning, according to officials.
A spokesperson from Central Railway stated that at 9:16 am, suburban services on all railway lines in Thane experienced technical issues, resulting in the signal failure.
"The signal failure at Thane has affected services between Kalyan (in Thane) and Kurla" explained the spokesperson.
Commuters reported that the problem led to trains bunching up on both sides of Thane station, causing inconvenience and delays. Crowds of office-goers were seen waiting at various stations along the route during the morning rush hours.
The signalling system was restored by 10:15 am, and services on all the lines were resumed, as confirmed by the Central Railway spokesperson. However, commuters should expect delays of up to 30 minutes as services gradually return to normalcy.
The Central Railway's suburban network on the main corridor stretches from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in south Mumbai to Kalyan in Thane district and Khopoli in Raigad. This extensive network serves lakhs of commuters who rely on it for their daily travel needs.
