Mumbai News: Commuters on Mumbai's Western Railway line faced disruptions on Sunday due to a technical failure at Borivali station and fallen trees between Prabhadevi and Dadar stations.
The technical issue at Borivali station, which occurred in the morning, led to delays and cancellations of several suburban local trains, causing inconvenience to passengers. However, the Western Railway (WR) immediately responded to the situation and managed to resolve the problem by around 9:05 am, restoring normal operations on all three lines.
Earlier the same morning, train services were interrupted due to fallen trees between Prabhadevi and Dadar stations. The incident was reported around 7:30 am, but the track was quickly cleared and deemed safe by approximately 8:10 am, allowing the resumption of train movements in the affected area.
Meanwhile, Mumbai experienced heavy overnight rain, causing severe waterlogging in various parts of the city on Sunday. The Andheri subway and areas near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were affected. Heavy traffic jams occurred on the Western Express Highway due to the downpour. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted intense showers in Thane and Raigad districts. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued an orange alert and advised residents to stay indoors unless necessary. The orange alert also covered Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. Continuous rain has led to waterlogging and traffic disruptions across Mumbai.
