Navi Mumbai New Airport Update: The new Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will start domestic operations from April, said Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Monday. NMIA’s construction is done by 85 per cent, while the trials have also been conducted, the minister further informed. Additionally, the new Navi Mumbai Airport will have a dedicated VVIP terminal to facilitate movie stars, billionaire businessmen, government officials, such as governors, chief ministers, and defense personnel.

Navi Mumbai New Airport Update: 8 Metro Lines To Link CSMIA To NMIA

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar informed that eight metro lines will link Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with NMIA. It is worth noting that the Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. and the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) have joined hands to operate the NMIA, said a TOI report.

Navi Mumbai New Airport Update: VVIP Terminal Eligibility Criteria

While the discussions for the exclusive terminal are on, officials are also thinking about a plan to finalise the eligibility criteria. The guidelines will decide who can be given the access to the VVIP terminal, which will be selected later, reported TOI quoting its sources.

It is expected that the families of the airport's promoters' families will be given access to the VVIP terminal. The move stresses upon the commitment of the airport to establish itself as a hub for exclusive and private travel needs. According to officials, the VVIP Terminal’s presence is part of a broader global trend where major airports prioritise exclusivity and better amenities for famous travellers.
