The decades-old iron bridge, frequently used by tourists and pilgrims visiting the Kund Mala area, was reportedly overcrowded when it collapsed. As per a Punekar News report, the high weekend footfall may have put excessive pressure on the structure. Continuous rainfall over the past two days had also raised the river’s water level and current, adding to the risk.
