Pune News: A food delivery agent lost his life after being hit by an Audi car in a upscale area of Pune on Friday. The driver, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, first collided with a two-wheeler, injuring three individuals before hitting the victim’s motorcycle.
The incident occurred around 1 am in Koregaon, near Google’s office, according to Pune Police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) R. Raja stated that the luxury vehicle, with the registration number MH12 NE 4464, initially crashed into an Activa scooter carrying three passengers. Following this, the car collided with the motorcycle of 29-year-old Rauf Akbar Shaikh from behind. Despite being rushed to Noble Hospital, Shaikh succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Initial investigations by Pune Police suggest that the driver was likely under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. After the collision, the driver fled the scene, leaving the injured behind. Shaikh, who was working as a food delivery boy, was critically injured in the accident.
Police obtained CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle involved in the incident. The car’s registration led them to the driver, Ayush Pradeep Tayal, a 34-year-old resident of Hadapsar. Tayal was apprehended at his home and the car has been confiscated for further examination.

A case has been registered at Mundhwa police station under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving and other relevant offences related to the Motor Vehicle Act. The investigation is ongoing.
