Pune News: The Pune district has announced a government holiday on Monday, September 16, to celebrate Eid-e-Milad. This decision creates a long weekend for many, as Tuesday is also designated as a holiday for Anant Chaturdashi.

District Collector Suhas Diwase issued an official notice on Saturday, confirming the holiday in line with directives from the Maharashtra government. Many private and government offices will be closed on Tuesday due to road closures associated with Ganesh Visarjan, which typically results in a public holiday. Additionally, most workplaces are planning to observe a half-day on Wednesday, as the immersion ceremonies can take over 24 hours.

In separate news, interviews for construction worker positions in Israel will take place at the Aundh Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Pune starting September 17. Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, announced that nearly 10,000 construction workers will be recruited from India as part of a memorandum of understanding signed with Israel.

On the same day, major Ganesh Mandals in Pune will conduct the immersion of Ganesh idols. This event attracts crowds from across Pune District and beyond, as people come to witness the elaborate processions. Consequently, major roads in the city will be closed to traffic annually during this time.

In preparation for this, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has announced temporary changes to bus services for passengers. The adjustments are as follows:

The PMPML bus that typically departs from Shahu Maharaj Stand (Swargate) and travels via Satara Road to Katraj and Market Yard will now start from Laxminarayan Theatre Chowk.

The bus usually leaving from Natraj Bus Stand towards Sinhagad Road will now depart from Parvati Paytha (Swami Samarth Math) Bus Stand.

The bus from Swargate to Pulgate and Hadapsar via Solapur Road will now leave from Vega Centre Bus Stand, located near Swargate.

Additionally, the bus that departs from Swargate to Bhavani Peth, Nana Peth, and Rasta Peth will also start from Vega Centre Bus Stand.

Lastly, the bus that usually travels from Deccan Gymkhana Bus Stand towards Kothrud Depot, Malwadi, and NDA Gate will now begin its journey from SNDT College Bus Stand.

These service changes are set to take effect on the day of Ganesh Visarjan, as several key roads including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, Bajirao Road, Laxmi Road, Tilak Road, and Karve Road will be closed to bus traffic.
