Pune Metro Update: The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro) has initiated metro trails between the District Court and Swargate stations to provide relief to the commuters during the ongoing Ganeshotsav. The authority stated that the trains will operate every three minutes between these two key stations of the Pune metro. It further emphasised that the operation of trains will cut the travel time and reduce traffic congestion in several areas of the city, including Kasba Peth and Mandai. The MahaMetro also stated that the trains will operate till 2 am, adding that it will significantly provide convenience to the residents.

While providing details, the authority stated that the metro route will be open for the commuters for the first time during the festival. It further stated that the services will provide relief to the passengers as the train will pass through several key locations of the city, including Kasba, Mandai, and Swargate. It further stated that the commuters will be able to avoid the busy roads during the festival, providing convenience.

The MahaMetro has advised the commuters of the city to use Kasba Peth metro station for arrival and Mandai station for the return journeys. It further advised the passengers of the Vanaz–Ramwadi route to exit at the Pune Municipal Corporation station to avoid the congestion. The authority further stated that the trains will have a capacity of 900 passengers, adding that the frequency of the trains will cut the travel time significantly.

The Pune police had advised the commuters to use public transport during the festival to avoid any inconveniences. The authority also announced that additional buses will operate in the city for a few days to provide relief to the locals. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several districts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai and Pune, are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days.
