Pune Metro Update: In a major update for the commuters of Pune, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) has invited tenders to appoint consultants for 14 proposed elevated stations. The officials stated that these stations along two new corridors in Pune's eastern and southeastern suburbs will boost the connectivity. They further stated that the bids are set to be opened on March 5, adding that the proposed routes will link the industrial regions with the residential areas.

The proposed stations will provide relief to thousands of commuters by cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion. While providing details, the officials stated that the consultancy contracts relate to Line 4B and Line 4C of the Pune Metro. While the Line 4B will connect Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor, the Line 4C is set to link Hadapsar to Saswad Road railway station.

Earlier last month, the metro authority stated that both of the corridors are set to boost the regional connectivity and will reduce the traffic congestion in the key regions. It further stated that along with boosting the connectivity, the corridors will also improve the financial activities in these regions.

Earlier on February 2, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) informed that the new metro line connecting Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar is set to open in March 2026. Developed under a public-private partnership, the metro line is expected to reduce travel time significantly from two hours to approximately 30 minutes and ease congestion on roads.

The officials stated that the current two-hour travel time between Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar will be reduced to approximately 30 minutes, offering a much faster alternative to road travel. The new metro line is expected to benefit over 2.2 lakh professionals working in more than 800 companies, providing a reliable and convenient travel alternative.
