Pune Metro: The city’s public transport system has received a major upgrade with the completion of the Purple Line of the Pune Metro, now fully operational between Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Swargate. Spanning about 16.6 kilometres, the corridor combines elevated and underground stretches to improve daily commuting.
The Purple Line aims to reduce traffic congestion and make daily travel faster and more convenient. Developed by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) and managed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), the line connects key residential, commercial and institutional zones. The corridor is expected to benefit thousands of commuters by offering a sustainable alternative to cars and buses.
Pune Metro Purple Line Route: 14 Stations List
The route includes 14 stations in total, with 11 already in service. The operational stations are PCMC, Tukaram Nagar, Bhosari, Kasarwadi, Fugewadi, Dapodi, Bopodi, Khadki, Range Hill, Shivaji Nagar and Civil Court. The remaining three—Budhwar Peth, Mandai and Swargate—are under construction and expected to open soon. Once completed, the entire stretch will offer smooth access to major hubs including heritage markets, business centres and hospitals.
Pune Metro Update: Civil Court To Serve As Imp Interchange
The Civil Court station will eventually serve as an important interchange connecting the Purple Line to other Pune Metro corridors, including the Aqua Line (Vanaz to Ramwadi) and Line-3 (Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar). This integration will help commuters move across the city more efficiently.

Pune Metro Update: Cut Travel Time Between PCMC And Swargate
One of the major benefits of the Purple Line is its potential to cut down travel time between PCMC and Swargate. It also helps reduce the number of private vehicles on the road, lowering pollution and easing traffic on busy roads like the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway.
With this development, the Pune Metro takes another step forward in creating a modern and eco-friendly transport network. The Purple Line is set to play a central role in the city’s efforts to make commuting faster, safer and more reliable.
