Pune News: Water and power cuts prevailed in Pune’s Talwade after a massive fire broke out on Tuesday, damaging all seven power lines, including the ones reserved for emergency usage. Four of the seven power lines were used for routine electricity supply, while three others were reserved for emergency times. The Talwade Water Supply scheme, run by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, was also damaged by the incident, affecting the water supply.
Pune Grassland Fire: Power Cut Affects 45,000 Consumers
A total of seven power lines of the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL)—four of 22 kv and three of 33 kv. The damage affected supply to around 4,500 industrial consumers. According to a report by Pune Mirror, the official confirmed that power to around 1,800 consumers was restored by 6 pm using alternative systems.

The work to restore the power supply to the remaining 27,000 consumers is underway and was expected to be completed by Tuesday, after which the remaining 2,700 industrial consumers and the water supply project were to be reconnected in phases.
The fire affected the power supply to 2,500 domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers in Dheugaon and Chincholi villages. The fire, which started around 3:45 PM, quickly spread across parched vegetation on a nearby hill.
“Our teams worked in shifts and under intense pressure. The scale of the damage was significant, as both main and backup lines were affected,” Executive Engineer of Bhosari Division, Atul Devkar, said, quoted by Pune Mirror.
