Pune News: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday stated that they are planning to widen the roads in Bhugaon to reduce the traffic congestion. The authority stated that Bhugaon is one of the busiest areas of Pune, and the residents have been complaining about the traffic congestion for the past few months. It further stated that the widening of the roads will provide great relief to the daily commuters and the residents of Bhugaon.

Apart from the widening of the roads, the authority is also reportedly planning to build a flyover or a grade separator to provide convenience to the residents. However, the authority is planning to widen the road only within the civic jurisdiction, and the roads will not be widened further. They stated that the roads will be widened as per the demands of the residents, adding that the wide roads will reduce the traffic congestion in this area.

While providing details, the authority stated that Rs 15 crore has been allocated for the project, and the study is expected to be ready within three months. The area is one of the busiest routes of the city, as it connects the Pirangut industrial area and is one of the main routes for the students and the employees commuting to the city for work purposes.

Residents in Bhugaon experience massive traffic congestions as a large number of students and IT employees reside in this area due to the proximity to the workplace. The road near Bhugaon also serves as a route to Mulshi and witnesses a significant surge in passengers during wedding and holiday seasons due to the large number of resorts in the area.

Earlier on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that several areas in Maharashtra, including Pune, are expected to receive rainfall in the upcoming days, significantly reducing the temperature. The IMD's forecast warned of thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 km/h in isolated locations for the next few days.
