Pune Weather: After enduring scorching heat, Pune city welcomed a reprieve on Thursday as heavy rains fell for the second consecutive day. The much-anticipated downpour has brought significant relief, cooling the temperatures across the region.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several areas in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall, possibly escalating to heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms. The IMD's forecast warned of thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 km/h in isolated locations.

Pune Power Cut

In Pune, continuous rain has been reported in areas such as Khadkwasla, Wagholi and Lohegaon. However, the brief but intense rainfall has disrupted power supply in various parts of the city. Residents in Sadashiv Peth reported power outages lasting over an hour, prompting concerns on social media. One user expressed frustration, questioning why electricity rates are high when stability is lacking. Another resident slammed the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL) for inadequate infrastructure, given the impact of the rain.

Responding to the complaints, MSEDCL acknowledged the inconvenience caused and encouraged users to report power failures. Residents can register complaints by giving a missed call to 022-50897100 or sending an SMS with the message "NOPOWER" to 9930399303 for prompt assistance.
