Pune News: A woman was allegedly raped by a man posing a courier delivery boy at a housing society in Pune's Kondhwa area, police said on Thursday. The man entered the 22-year-old woman’s society at 7:30 pm on July 2. Even as she denied the service, the man asked for a pen to sign (a document) and as she turned her back to him, he came inside the house and latched the door. The man used some substance to make her unconscious and sexually assaulted her.

Following the assault, the man captured a selfie using the woman’s phone and left behind a message warning her not to inform about the crime to anyone as he had taken her pictures and would share them on social media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde said, as per news agency PTI. The victim, who works in a private firm, was alone in her apartment as her brother had gone out of town.

The face of the accused has been captured in one of the CCTV and search is on to nab him. A case has been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 64 (punishment for rape), 77 (voyeurism) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation).

In another incident in June, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in a car and three women occupants robbed of gold ornaments by two motorbike-borne unidentified persons in the wee hours of Monday on a highway in Daund in Pune, a police official said, as per news agency PTI.

The incident took place around 4:15am near Bhigwan on the highway when the car the victims were travelling in halted after the driver wanted to answer nature's call, the official said.

There were seven people in the car - the driver aged 70, three women, two 17-year-old boys and a 17-year-old girl. They were from two different families from a village in Junnar tehsil of Pune district and on their way to temple town of Pandharpur in Solapur district, he said.

"As the driver felt sleepy, he halted the car near a tea stall. When the driver stepped out to answer nature's call, two unidentified men approached the vehicle and threatened the occupants with sharp weapons and robbed gold ornaments. One of the accused then took the 17-year-old girl out of the car and sexually assaulted her," said the officer.
