Maharashtra Doctor Rape Case: A series of shocking allegations have surfaced following the death of a 28-year-old woman doctor at a government hospital in Maharashtra’s Satara district, who allegedly died by suicide in a hotel room late Thursday night.

According to the police, a note written on her palm accused the police officer of rape, pressure to alter the post-mortem report and ongoing mental harassment over the past five months, news agency PTI reported.

Speaking to PTI, Satara police said, “We have registered a case, and the body has been sent for post-mortem. We are also investigating the allegations mentioned in the suicide note on the victim's hand.”

Shocking Details Of Maharashtra Doctor Rape Case

- Doctor Accuses Cops Of Rape And Mental Harassment: In a note written on her palm, the doctor accused sub-inspector Gopal Badane of raping and sexually harassing her on multiple occasions. She further accused another officer, Prashant Bankar, of subjecting her to mental harassment.

Taking note of her allegations, Maharashtra Women’s Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar said, “We have ordered Satara Police to take strict action against the accused.”

- Forced To Make Fake Autopsy Report: Speaking to news agency ANI, the victim’s cousin alleged that medical officials, including her, were under pressure to falsify postmortem reports.

“There was a lot of police and political pressure on her to make wrong postmortem reports. She tried to raise complaints about it. My sister deserves justice,” the cousin said.

- Workplace Harassment: The deceased doctor’s aunt said she has spoken to them several times about the pressure she was undergoing at her workplace.

“She was bright and ambitious. We raised her since childhood and supported her education. She was under pressure at work, and that is why she took this extreme step. The culprits must be punished,” one of the aunts said.

Another aunt said, “Just two days ago, she mentioned being harassed by seniors at work.”

- Action Against Accused Officers: Satara Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi said that a case has been filed against Gopal Badane and Prashant Bankar on charges of rape and abetment to suicide.

The sub-inspector named in the note has been suspended, and police teams have launched a search operation to trace the accused. “A thorough probe and stringent action will be taken,” Doshi said.

- CM Orders Immediate Suspension: Following the incident, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed the Satara Police to suspend the officers named in the doctor’s note without delay.
