A four-year-old girl died after a dog fell on her from the fifth floor of a building in Maharashtra’s Thane on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 4:30 pm on a busy lane in the Mumbra area. The child, who was walking with her mother, suffered severe injuries and was declared dead at the hospital.

A viral video shows the dog falling on the girl, but it remains unclear whether the dog jumped or was thrown. Authorities are investigating if the dog’s owner had permission from the Thane Municipal Corporation to keep the pet and whether negligence played a role.

Police stated that the victim's mother did not suspect foul play in her daughter’s death. The girl’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and an investigation is ongoing, officials added.
