Ananta Chaturdashi 2025 or Anant Chaudas is a sacred Hindu festival celebrated on the 14th day of the bright half of the Bhadrapada month. Ananta Chaturdashi also marks the conclusion of the ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. Devotees say goodbye to Lord Ganesha by immersing his idols in water, which represents completion, renewal, and the return of the divine lord to Mount Kailash. This year, Anant Chaturdashi will be celebrated on 6th September 2025.
On this significant occasion, devotees must be careful of certain rules before performing Ganpati Visarjan in order to avoid potential misfortune. Below is the list of 5 rules to take care of before bidding a final goodbye to Lord Ganpati:
Anant Chaturdashi 2025: 5 Rules To Be Mindful Of Before Doing Ganpati Visarjan
1. Perform Visarjan During Shubh Muhurat
To receive blessings of Ganpati Bappa, one should do Ganpati Visarjan on Anant Chaturdashi during the auspicious time. In line with Hindu beliefs, doing the immersion at the right time enhances the spiritual and brings positive energy. Before starting the rituals, people check the tithi because they believe that immersing Ganpati during the right time pleases the god and grants wishes said during the festival.
2. Perform Puja Before Immersion
Before beginning the Visarjan, a proper puja must be performed. Offer flowers, sweets, fruit, and incense, and light a diya as a final act of respect. Additionally, do not forget to perform the puja. Devotees must also recite prayers and mantras to thank Lord Ganesha for removing problems and blessing their homes during the ten-day festival. This final puja is necessary as a mark of gratitude, purity and devotion, which makes sure the immersion is done with respect.
3. Immerse Ganpati Idol With Care
The immersion of Lord Ganesha's idol is more than just a tradition. It is a deeply heartfelt moment for devotees. It is important to do the Visarjan with full respect and devotion. The idol should be immersed in the water carefully, representing the cycle of creation and destruction.

4. Make Sure To Tie These Things With Ganpati Bappa
As part of the traditional customs, a red cloth is carefully filled with coconut, jaggery, and various grains. This bundle is then presented to Bappa, a term of endearment for Lord Ganesha as a symbolic gesture. It represents his meal as he embarks on his revered journey back to his abode.
5. Offer These Things To Bappa
As part of the prayer rituals, offer uncooked rice or akshat to the idol. Then, carefully put a small amount of curd on the idol's hands, symbolising a wish for good fortune and an abundant life.
When preparing for Ganpati Visarjan, devotees should observe a few key rules to ensure a respectful and safe farewell. Anant Chaturdashi is a time for faith and devotion, not just the final goodbye to Lord Ganesha. By minding these rules during Visarjan, devotees show thanks for his blessings, making sure the farewell is respectful and positive.
