Balaji Jayanti 2024: Significance And Rituals Of Sri Tirupati Balaji Jayanti
Balaji Jayanti is a significant event in the Hindu calendar, celebrating the birth of Lord Balaji, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to Hindu legends, Lord Balaji descended to earth to uplift humanity and rid the world of evil. He is also worshipped as Lord Venkatesh on this day. The Tirupati Temple, considered Lord Vishnu's celestial abode is a major hub of celebrations.
On Balaji Jayanti, devotees rise early, take a bath, and perform the 'Angapradakshina' of the temple. They surrender themselves to Lord Balaji, worshipping him with devotion, love and faith. In the Tirupati Balaji Temple, a grand Maha Aarti is performed in the evening, attracting thousands of devotees. Prasad is distributed after the ceremonies, and some devotees even worship Lord Balaji in their homes, offering kumkum, garlands and other sacred offerings.
Chanting Vedic mantras like 'Om Namo Narayana' dedicated to Lord Balaji is considered highly rewarding on this day. These acts of devotion purify the soul, bringing the person closer to the Supreme Being.
