Chaitra Amavasya 2025: Significance

Chaitra Amavasya is a significant date in the Hindu calendar, marking the beginning of spiritual activities that foster power, Tantra, Mantra and spiritual growth. Devotees seeking to enhance their energy and abilities can achieve success on this day. To harness its benefits, people engage in Puja (worship), Tapasya (meditation) and Jagran (night vigils), with the latter being observed by those who follow a celibate lifestyle.

This day is considered ideal for Tantra Puja and Mantra Siddhi, making it highly effective for spiritual practices. The night of Amavasya is particularly special for awakening certain energies. However, it's also believed that individuals born on this day may have weak decision-making abilities due to a weak Moon in their horoscope. To counter this, worshippers can perform rituals like Moon worship, Shivling Puja, and offering food to the poor, while also bathing in holy rivers to eliminate negative energy and promote positivity.

Chaitra Amavasya 2025: Rituals

To maximise the benefits of Amavasya, consider fasting on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays under the auspicious Nakshatras of Anuradha, Vishakha and Swati. Devotees can also embark on pilgrimages, recite hymns and engage in deep meditation. These spiritual activities will help you connect with the divine and reap spiritual rewards.

On Amavasya, focus on self-introspection, worship and controlling your inner self. Begin the day by reciting the Gayatri mantra 108 times. Afterwards, offer water to the Sun and Tulsi, feed a cow and pour holy water on the Shiva Linga. You can also place Tulsi leaves under a peepal tree and offer various items like curd, milk and flowers.

Show respect to your ancestors by offering them handmade food items like puris, sabzi, and kheer. After offering these items, take them as prasad. Additionally, donate clothes and food to those in need and consider observing Maun Vrat to cultivate spiritual growth.
