Champa Shashthi 2023: On this auspicious festival, devotees worship Lord Shiva in the form of Khandoba or Mallari. On the day of Champa Shashti, people in Jejuri, Maharashtra observe fast and celebrate with great enthusiasm. There is a temple in Pune dedicated to Khandoba. The festival is also celebrated with great joy in Karnataka on the Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Margashirsha. This year, it falls on December 18.

Champa Shashti 2023: Significance

According to the scriptures, Khandoba saved people from the demon Malaa and his younger brother Mani. On this day, devotees offer Kandoba with thombara which is a dish cooked with jondhale and adding curd and salt to it. It is said that people who worship Khandoba on this day get rid of all their troubles and past sins.

Champa Shashti 2023: Rituals And Puja Vidhi

After taking a bath on waking up early in the morning, offer vegetables, fruits, apple leaves and turmeric powder to Lord Khandoba. Offering turmeric is considered very important in this festival. Devotees visit the temple for six days and offer prayers, They also light lamps and diyas for these six days of the festival. On the sixth day, bhog is offered to the Lord such as Thombara, Rigada and bhandara (turmeric). The festival is concluded with an aarti.

Champa Shashti starts from Margashirsha Shukla Pratipada and ends on Champashashti day. Ghatastapana, Nandadeep, worship of Khandoba, worship of Mallari Mahatma, Ekbhukta stay, Shivlinga darshan, Bhandara among other things are done on this festival.
