Devshayani Ekadashi 2025: Significance And Rituals

The significance of Ashadi Ekadashi, also known as Shayani Ekadashi, is narrated in the Bhavishyottara Purana, where Lord Brahma first told the story to Narad, and later Lord Krishna shared it with King Yudhishthira. Considered the first and one of the most powerful Ekadashis, this vrat is believed to bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to those who observe it with full devotion. It is also said that after enjoying the blessings of worldly life, such a devotee eventually attains salvation.

Ashadi Ekadashi also marks the end of the famous Pandharpur Waari Yatra in Maharashtra, where thousands gather to worship Lord Vithoba, a form of Lord Vishnu. The 17-day-long yatra is filled with devotion, song, and celebration, drawing pilgrims from across the country.
