Hanuman and Bhima share the same father, Vayu, who is the wind God. However, their mothers are not the same: Anjana is Hanuman's mother, and Kunti is Bhima's. Bhima is rarely referred to as 'Pavanputra', as Hanuman is, so this family connection is frequently overlooked in stories.

Bheem was known as powerful and strong, as per the accounts from the Mahabharata. His huge size and strength made him formidable, like Lord Hanuman. His bulk enabled him to overcome Dushasana and Duryodhana in battle, which made him very popular as a warrior.

Interestingly, Bhima's preference for the gada (mace) mirrors Hanuman's preference for the same weapon. Both of these mighty figures wielded the gada with great skill, utilising it to devastating effect in battle. In the Mahabharata, Bhima's gada expertise was critical, whereas Hanuman's gada use is legendary in the Ramayana. This shared preference emphasises the similarities between these two powerful characters from the Hindu legends, highlighting their impressive martial abilities and strength.
