The legends surrounding Durva Grass is quite diverse. The Bhavishya Purana suggests that Durva came from Lord Vishnu's hair during the Samudra Manthan. Another story says it came from Vasuki's tail. In Hinduism, Durva is linked to Lord Ganesha, who was healed of stomach problems when 88,000 saints did Archana with 21 Durva grass each. In the Ramayana, Goddess Sita put a piece of Durva between herself and Ravana, telling him not to cross it. These stories show Durva's sacred value and its part in Hindu folklore and customs.
