Ekadashi September 2025: Parivartini or Parsva Ekadashi and Indira Ekadashi will take place in September 2025, respectively. According to the Panchang, Ekadashi is a sacred fast that takes place on the eleventh day of each lunar fortnight (Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha) of every Hindu month. The sacred Ekadashi Vrat is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is believed to bestow liberation, good fortune, devotion and alleviate past sins.

Parivartini Ekadashi 2025 Significance
In Hinduism, Parsva Ekadashi is a sacred fast. People observe it on the eleventh day of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada, which usually happens between August and September. This day is very important as it falls during Dakshinayana Punyakalam and within the holy Chaturmas period. The devotees observe Parsva Ekadashi with devotion, believing it grants forgiveness and brings divine blessings.
This fast is known by different names in different places. Some names include Padma Ekadashi, Vamana Ekadashi, Jayanti Ekadashi, Jaljhilini Ekadashi and Parivartini Ekadashi. According to Hindu legends, Lord Vishnu shifts positions while he's resting on this day, moving from his left side to his right. That's why it's also known as Parivartini Ekadashi. Lord Vamana, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu is also worshipped on this day. Performing this Ekadashi fast is said to bring blessings of safety, wealth and spiritual growth from Lord Vishnu.

Indira Ekadashi 2025 Significance
Indira Ekadashi is observed during Pitru Paksha is the sacred fortnight of the Ancestors. This day holds a great spiritual importance and is also called Ekadashi Shraddh. The primary aim of this vrat is to give peace and salvation to departed forefathers by freeing them from suffering so that they may not endure the suffering of hell. As a result, devotees perform this fast with profound faith to implore forgiveness for their past wrong actions while praying for the well-being of their father and ancestors.
