Falgun Amavasya 2025: Phalgun Amavasya Rituals

The Phalguna month is considered one of the most auspicious periods in the Hindu calendar. To make the most of this time, start the day by waking up early and taking a sacred bath in a holy river or at home by adding a few drops of Gangajal to your water. After your bath, offer Arghya to Suryadev, the sun god and vow to keep a fast for the entire day.

Throughout the day, perform various rituals to honour your ancestors and seek their blessings. Spray cow urine around your home, worship your ancestors at the riverbank and provide food to Brahmins. In the evening, light a mustard oil lamp under the peepal tree and circumambulate it seven times. These rituals will help you connect with your ancestors and seek their guidance.

Donating a cow to Brahmins is considered highly significant on this day. If this isn't possible, feeding fodder to a cow is a suitable alternative. By following these rituals, individuals with Pitra dosha in their horoscope can work to rectify this imbalance and seek a more harmonious relationship with their ancestors.
