Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most revered festivals of the country that is celebrated with great jubilation. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 19 in different parts of the country, especially Maharashtra. Also known as Vinakaya Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha.
The celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi are a grand fair as people take part in processions of Lord Ganesha, dance to drum beats, enjoy delicacies and welcome Ganpati Bappa in their homes for the next 10 days until Ganpati Visarjan. While bringing Ganesh idols to your home, there are some important things that you should keep in mind. Here’s a list of some do’s and don'ts of Ganpati Sthapana at your house on Ganesh Chaturthi.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Do’s
- Make sure to clean your house and decorate it before bringing Lord Ganesha to your home.
- Keep in mind to choose a clay idol of Lord Ganesha and avoid iron or steel idols.
- Before bringing Ganpati Bappa to your house, make sure to cover the idol with a clean cloth.
- Before placing the idol at your puja place in your home, place a kalash filled with water at the puja place.
- Prepare an asana to make Lord Ganesha sit in your home.

- Once you place the idol, adorn Lord Ganesha with fresh flowers, and a sacred thread known as Janve on his left shoulder.
- Recite the holy mantras of Lord Ganesha and practise puja every day until Ganpati Visarjan.
Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: Don’ts
- Avoid consuming non-vegetarian foods such as meat, chicken and others during the ten-day holy period of Ganesh Chaturthi.
- Prohibit smoking in your house during Ganesh Chaturthi.
- Eliminate including onion and garlic from your recipes.

- Lord Ganesha should never be left unattended at home and at least one family member should be present with him.
