Guru Nanak Jayanti 2024: Rituals

Key events include the 48-hour Akhand Path, where the Guru Granth Sahib is continuously read in gurudwaras. The Nagarkirtan procession, led by the Panj Pyare, takes place a day before the anniversary, showcasing soulful hymns, traditional music, and Gatka performances.

On the Jayanti, morning hymns (Asaa-Ki-Vaar) and scripture readings (Katha) commence at 3:00 am. The Prabhat Pheri procession follows, accompanied by community lunches (Langars) welcoming people of all backgrounds. Evening prayers (Rehras) and Kirtan take place at sunset. At 1:15 am, Gurbani is sung to mark Guru Nanak's birth time, culminating the day's festivities. These events foster unity, spirituality, and community bonding, making Guru Nanak Jayanti a deeply moving experience.
