Holika Dahan 2025: Why Holika Dahan Is Not Observed During Bhadra?

According to Hindu scriptures, performing auspicious deeds during Bhadra leads to bad luck. A notable example is Ravana, who conducted a Yagna during Bhadra, ultimately resulting in his downfall. The Bhadra Mukha phase is considered particularly inauspicious, associated with destruction.

To avoid the negative effects of Bhadra, Holika Dahan should be performed during Pradosh Kaal, which is the evening after sunset. This timing ensures the ritual is conducted at a propitious time, promoting prosperity and happiness.

However, if Bhadra is present during Pradosh Kaal, the ritual should only be carried out when Bhadra Puncha - the final portion of Bhadra is active or when Bhadra is no longer present. This careful timing helps avoid the negative influences of Bhadra, allowing for a successful and auspicious Holika Dahan celebration.
