Janmashtami 2023: The sacred festival associated with Lord Krishna’s birth, Shri Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 7th September 2023. This auspicious occasion is commemorated with full fervour and enthusiasm by the ardent devotees of the Lord. This significant festival is also known as Gokulashtami. According to sacred Hindu scriptures, Lord Krishna was born on the 8th day of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada in the Rohini Nakshatra.
There are additional factors that make Shri Krishna Janmashtami this year very unique, in addition to the two-day celebration. This year, the observance of two yogs will be formed on the day of Janmashtami namely Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga and Ravi Yoga. On Janmashtami, Sarvartha Sidhi Yoga will continue all day. Janmashtami 2023 Puja Vidhi
- One should wake up early in the morning on the day of Janmashtami and take a vow to fast for the day.
- Keep reciting lord Krishna and Mantras and do Harinam Sankirtan throughout the day until Shri Krishna Janm at midnight.
- During the Janm of Lord Krishna, bathe your Laddu Gopal deity with the holy Ganga or Yamuna Jal and Panchamrit.
- Adorn the deity with beautiful poshak, mukut, bansuri, tulsi leaves, jewellery, Chandan sringar, peacock leaves and bansuri.
- Offer garland, flowers, makhan, mishri, makhane and sweets to the Laddu Gopal deity and offer prayers.
- Swing Laddu Gopal Ji gently on a “Jhoola”. Light diyas and dhoop.
- Culminate the puja by performing the aarti of Lord Krishna and distributing the Prashad thereafter.
