Janmashtami 2024: Puja Vidhi To Perform Abhishek

Preparation

To perform Abhishek on Janmashtami, begin by preparing a sacred space with a Lord Krishna idol. Cleanse the area with sandalwood paste and flowers. Arrange offerings like fruits, sweets, and flowers. Fill a kalash with holy water, and have a conch shell, bell, and puja items ready for the ritual.

Abhishek Ritual

Gently pour the holy water from the kalash over the Lord Krishna idol, simulating a sacred bath. Offer prayers and chant mantras like 'Om Shri Krishna Namaha' or 'Gopala Govinda'. Use a conch shell to pour water, and ring the bell to symbolize devotion. Repeat the process with Panchamrit - ghee, curd, milk, honey, tulsi, and sugar powder.

Puja and Offerings

After Abhishek, perform aarti with camphor or diyas, and offer bhog to Lord Krishna. Offer dhaniya panjiri and panch mewa to the lord. Place flowers, fruits, and sweets at the deity's feet. Recite aarti, prayers, bhajans, and the Gita Govinda to invoke divine blessings. End the puja by seeking Lord Krishna's forgiveness, and distributing prasad to devotees, fostering a sense of community and spiritual connection.
